The 2025-2026 Annual children’s theater is over. This school year’s play was Folk Tales, in which we learned about old folk tales from a bunch of different tribes. There have been questions on a few people’s minds. “What is children’s theater? Why is it important?” So I interviewed theater director Mr. Johnson.
The First question Johnson was asked was “What is the importance of children’s theater and why do you do it?”
To which he answered “Because it’s my passion. My masters degree is in children’s theater and recreational drama from the university of North Dakota. It’s important because we do high school kids entertain elementary students. Some of our elementary students would never have the opportunity to see a theatrical production but they get to every year when they’re in our system. Plus, they don’t have to pay to come, they just give some food items or non perishable items and then we’re able to donate that to st vincent de paul. So its a win, win, win situation.”
He already answered the next question which was “why do you do theater”
Then he was asked “what’re your plans for the future?”
And he answered “retirement. Either this year or next”
The last and final question I asked him was “do you have any advice for someone wanting to start out theater”
His answer was “Take a chance. I don’t know why more people don’t audition. There’s nothing to loose and everything to gain”
